Traveling mercies

Well, blogger is being really squirrely with uploading pictures right now, so you'll have to wait until later for more Copan pictures. In the meantime, please refrain from rioting, looting neighborhood stores and general despair - we will post them soon.
We had a great time with Megan's parents down here last week. We hung out around the Tegus area to give them an idea of what life is like for us here and then went to Copan Ruinas for a few days. The so-called "McAdam curse" managed to follow them down here to Honduras though, as it rained twice while they were here when it hadn't rained for almost two months before. In spite of that, we were blessed with safe travel, no strange taxi drivers (Heather - you weren't so lucky!) and no intestinal parasites! Megan's mom caught a cold from someone on the plane down here though, which Megan managed to catch too, but nothing more than just a head cold. We had a great time though and wish that we could have shared it with all of our family.
It just doesn't feel like Easter down here in Honduras. Megan's parents brought down an Easter colored cake-mix and some malted milk ball Easter eggs, but it's not quite the same. It's kind of funny when you think about it, but really most of the things that make it "feel" like Easter in the States are all associated with the Easter bunny, chocolates and egg-hunts instead of the real significance of the holiday. Being in a country where Easter isn't celebrated that way is strange, but I bet if you asked a Honduran what Easter is about they wouldn't respond with bunnies, baskets and pastel colors. It must have been a dark few days after Christ's death for his disciples and followers, only having his promises to hang on to that he would be raised from the dead. It's awesome that we have the rest of the story to reflect on - the death of death!
