Quote of the Week

Anybody who has been teaching for even a short period of time can tell you that students say some pretty incredible things at times. Incredibly bold, incredibly funny, incredibly unexpected...whatever. So here's mine for this week.

Student: Mr. Fritz, I hope this doesn't offend you, but you look kind of amish.

Me: *burst out laughing* Why? Because of the beard?

Student: Well, that and the way you dress when you come to class.

We have to wear white, starchy button up shirts every day with khaki pants that the school had hand made for us so everyone would have the same style. We've been pegged as Jehovah's Witnesses before by some people because of our uniforms. We pretty much fit the bill for Latter Day Saints too, minus the little blue "Brother" or "Sister" nametag.

Above is a picture that one of my students drew for extra credit on a spelling exam. We've been studying evolution and creation in their biology class, so I gave them this extra credit:
Draw a picture of an archaeopteryx eating a Cro-Magnon girl while Darwin stands by laughing so hard that the milk he's drinking shoots out of his nose. This kids picture made me laugh so hard I was crying for about 5 minutes. Enjoy!
